Nur Athirah Yusof

Dr. Athirah is currently working as a senior lecturer of molecular biology at Biotechnology Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah. After completing her B.Sc. in Biotechnology from Rochester Institute of Technology, New York, USA with high honors and dean’s lists for every quarter, she has worked as a researcher in Malaysia Genome Institute working on Antarctic yeast project for several months before decided to pursue her PhD in the Antarctic project. She received her Ph.D. in microbiology from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. While doing her Ph.D., she has attended attachment program sponsored by MOSTI grant in Monash University, Melbourne working with protein crystallization and hands-on beamlines for protein structure work in the Australian Synchrotron. In 2016, she joins the Biotechnology Research Institute, Universiti Malaysia Sabah as a senior lecturer of microbiology. Dr. Athirah current research focus on gene expression, DNA cloning, protein expression, purification and crystallization and protein structure analysis.
